It can be hooked up in to ways 1) directly with the main speaker wires or 2) via a direct line from a SUB OUT connection on the back of a digital reciever. But, if you need to have that high of a power requirement to get the sound level you need, get a bigger sub.

It does have a very slight hum to it when in the standby mode and will distort if pushed to its power/volume limit. Obviously at only 50 watts and the pushing low end of 35 Hertz, it is not going to be the most awesome sub for the true audiophile, but for this price it does an excellent job of adding sonic boom to music and movies in small spaces. My room is 10X12 and it does the job very nicely. It does a nice job of adding some low end bass to either a satelite or bookshelf system. Ear why don't you submit a review on a product you have actually owned and had experience with instead of making up a bunch of stupid ass comments about a product that from what I see you have little or no first hand knowledge of in the first place. This is a nice addition for a HT or music system in a small to midsized room. After all isn't that what this board is for in the first place? To write reviews on products that people have actually owned? Ear why don't you submit a review on a product you have actually owned and had experience with instead of making up a bunch of stupid ass comments about a product that from what I see you have little or no first hand knowledge of in the first place.

The bottom line here is that bass is felt not heard and for the money the Bass Cube 8 holds its own against models costing alot more money. But in my opinion if you were to do a sound comparison I seriously doubt that most people including those that call themselves "audiophiles" would be able to tell the difference between the Bass Cube 8 and one of the more expensive models mentioned above. Over this humble little sub with it's $179 or less price tag.

Or a $400+ Velodyne MAY have a certain edge in performance Were talking bass that pounds you right in the chest with no boominess whatsoever.īass that you really feel. The response out of this sub was incredible. For example during the scene in "Castaway" when the plane is going down in the water there are some instances that have alot of low rumbling bass. Whenever I'm watching a DVD and if there happens to be a scene that requires alot of low end bass this sub is more than up for the challenge. I have now owned this little sub for about 1 1/2 years now and I'm This is a follow up review to one I submitted last year and in direct response to the Ears scathing unfounded and totalīullsh*t comments he made regarding this product. And no I don't work for Cambridge I just happen to enjoy their products. Sure Costco may have a KLH for $99 but your going to get a piece of crap.īottom line here is Cambridge SoundWorks builds some pretty decent speakers that will stand up to other brandsįairly well without breaking the bank. For the price you can't really do any better. I've got my sub in a corner in a 13 by 14 room and it does a really nice jobįor music and home theater. I checked out other subs by Velodyne, Pinnacle amongst other names as well but all these other brands cost at least twice or three times as much and I couldn't see spending that much more and not really gaining that much in performance. I purchased the CambridgeĮnsemble 3 system with the 2 mains, 2 rears, center and passive sub and had decided that I wanted a little more kick My prior HT system consisted of some older Optimus floor speakers for my mains with a center and a small set of satellites for the rears.

Let me first say that this the first sub that I have owned.
